Gun Store Owner Kills Armed Robber

I guess the people who really needed to read my post “14 Instances of Sheer Stupid” didn’t, because on Dec 27, a gun store owner in Cobb County, Georgia, shot and killed an armed robber in his store. Shooting

The owner of Dixie Gun and Pawn in Cobb County, GA, Jimmy Groover, had just opened his store for business when two armed men with ski masks on and guns in hand burst in the door. The owner of the shop drew his own pistol and opened fire on the unwanted customers, killing one and sending the other fleeing in the getaway car, a silver Dodge Magnum.

A man interviewed for the news article (listed below) stated, “It’s just amazing to see someone try to come into a gun store to rob a gun store. I mean, that was a really un-thought-out plan,” No shit. One of them died and the other is wanted by the police. I bet they didn’t quite think things were going to go that way.

Apparently the store had suffered a fire in 2015, and the excess of local crime means the store has been burglarized multiple times in the past. A friend of Groover stated, “He’s just trying to make a living. That’s all he’s doing, and these guys come in and try to rob you and take your money and your guns. You can’t have a business these days without people trying to take what you’ve got.”
