While I didn’t personally make it out to Las Vegas for SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show this year, I’ve been following several media outlets (including the Survivalist Podcast, who highlighted their experience there this year) to see what the firearms world is bringing to us for 2017.
As far as handguns go, there looks to be lots of new innovation (the Hudson H9 seems to have made EVERYBODY’s list) and some rehashing of older designs (like the S&W M&P 2.0) to bring them up to speed to modern consumer and/or military demand. An interesting one to watch will be Remington’s new 18+1 9mm striker fired RP9 handgun – especially after the dismal initial failure of their R51 single-stack concealed carry pistol a few years ago.
Surprisingly, revolvers seem to be coming on strong, with the Nighthawk North Sky Custom and new models for Kimber’s KS line of wheelguns. Colt’s re-introduction of the Colt Cobra seems to be particularly enticing.
Here is a compendium of some of the bigger media outlets’ take on the SHOT show 2017 handguns, for those of us who couldn’t make it this year – click on the links below to head directly to the respective articles.
